This is a 6 page collection of activities to assist students to develop an awareness of specific social and environmental causes important to protecting our world and its inhabitants. All the peoples of the Earth deserve to have good health, as this year’s WHD theme suggests. International Chernobyl Disaster Remembrance Day includes events around the world dedicated to raising awareness of the consequences of the Chernobyl disaster and the risks of nuclear energy in general. This is 4 pages of activities that raise awareness of the day to students. The activities consist of a short account of the nuclear event and dictionary meanings, students research the consequences of the event, complete a mapping worksheet and research other major nuclear disasters around the world.

This is 5 pages of activities to highlight to students the importance of Mother Earth Day and the importance of the work of the World Health Organization. Activities and worksheets include writing, environmental vocabulary dictionary, researching environmental branches of science, factors destroying our earth, and for students to create a poster to advertise the importance of protecting the world we share.

A set of 50 Task Cards designed to stimulate creativity and imagination. The cards can be used as group or individual activities. As a group activity the cards foster communication and discussion in order to solve the problems. In a mixed ability class, I found it necessary to have activities available for those students who complete work quickly.
